This is a brief record of the Hughey family, fourth generation John McMasters and Rachel Hughey (first generation of McMasters in America) They had ten children born between 1811 and 1839, in the Pittsburgh, Penna area of residence. We see Joseph and wife Jean Irwin married in March, 1737 who settled in Lancaster County, Penna in 1730, 1751, and 1759 bought two hundred acres of land. He belonged to the Ulster settlement of Scotch-Irish. This information is extracted from "Larimer, McMasters and Allied families."
