Samuel Umfreville was born in 1666 in New Haven, Connecticut. His father was John Umfreville. He married Experience Miller (1673-1754). They had nine children. He died in 1754. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Wales, England, Connecticut and New York. The ancestral record of Frances Amelia (Smith) Lewis. This name is ancient, and "among the brave warriors who followed William the Conqueror from Normandy in 1066 we find Sir Robert de Umfreville, knight, his kinsman, Lord of Tours and Vian."
