HUNTON: Philip Hunton and his descendants 1881

  • 2000

By Daniel Huntoon

Philip Hunton, the immigrant ancestor of the branch in New England, came to America when he was a boy. He was born about 1664, upon emigration he was employed by a man at Exeter, New Hampshire, named Hall. He married his daughter, Betsy Hall in 1687.  He lived to 1752. These are his descendants. The word Hunton is of Saxon origin and is of great antiquity. Variations of the spelling include Hanton, Hinton, Honton, Hynton, Huntoon, and more. This book touches on the early history of the name, the family branches in New England, Virginia and more.
