HUTCHINSON: A brief genealogy of the descendants of William Hutchinson & Thomas Oliver 1865
By W. H. Whitmore
This is the brief history and genealogy of the descendants of William Hutchinson and Thomas Oliver of Massachusetts. These families are allied by marriage. William and his wife, the famous Anne Hutchinson, came over in 1634, with several children. His father was Edward. Anne was a midwife and became well known in history when she challenged the Puritan preachers as they taught works based salvation vs grace based salvation. She met with women and men discussing the Sunday sermons. After her continued speaking out, in 1637 the Puritan Clergy authority took her to trial. She was tried and convicted and banished from the colony for her views. This is one New England Hutchinson family, as published in 1865. Thomas Oliver of Boston, came in the William and Francis from London in 1632, bringing his wife Ann and children. His wife died in 1635 and he remarried. As with many New Englanders, they are fled oppression in their native land and sought shelter in the New World.
