JOHNSON: Records of the descendants of John Johnson of Ipswich & Andover, MA, 1635-1892; with an appendix 1892
By Rev. William W. Johnson
This 1892 publication presents the history and genealogy of the John Johnson family, of Ipswich and Andover, Massachusetts, for the years 1635-1892, with a supplement showing descendants of Timothy Johnson of Andover. The Johnson family were among the early settlers of New England, as colonial records show they were quite numerous. One name recorded was "the first person in New England guilty of the impossible crime of witchcraft, and executed at Hartford, was a Johnson of Windsor"; and another was the distinguished Rev Samuel Johnson, first president of King's College, New York. Recorded are the first John Johnson and his wife Susanna to come from England to America in 1632, births, marriages, wills, estates, inventories, military service in America's wars, and brief biographical sketches of family members.
