KEIM: Account of the Keim Family 1874

  • 1200

By H. M. Keim

This 1874 publication gives a brief account of the Keim Family, their history from the portion of Alsace bordering on the Rhine and their involvement in the "Thirty Years War", when every man took up arms, and at least one man, Ludwig Hercourt Keim, became a distinguished officer. This long war scattered the families. John Keim, to obtain  freedom of conscience, emigrated to America. He settled in Oley, Berks County. The family descendants moved to Reading, also Berks Co., Penna. The town of Reading was laid out by Thomas and Richard Penn in 1748. More on this region is covered in this booklet.
