This brief Kinsey family history begins with John Kinsey, an English Quaker originally from the village of Much Haddam, Hertfordshire, England. He was a friend of George Fox, founder of the Society of Friends. While in England he was frequently put in prison for nonpayment of tithes. In 1677 John Kinsey sailed to America in the ship Kent, and landed at Newcastle on the Delaware River.
