This is the history and genealogy of the Knowltons of England and America, whose name is ancient as we see in the first chapter. Knowlden means 'at the foot of the knoll". The name is variously spelled Cnolton, Knollton, Knowlton, Knowlden, Nolton, etc. This ancestral record begins with Richard of Kent b. 1553 married to Elizabeth Cantize in 1577. In the 5th gen we see Captain William emigrated to America 1632-4 and was married to Elizabeth.
