LAMSON: Descendants of William Lamson of Ipswich, MA, 1634-1917

The earliest mention of the name Lamson in America occurs in New England with three men, William of Ipswich, Massachusetts (1634), Barnabas of Cambridge, MA (1635), and Thomas of New Haven, CT. Some variations of the. name included Lampson, Lampsonne, Lambson, etc. This is the Lamson ancestory and descendants, from 1635-1908. In August, 1635, Barnabas Lamson came from Harwich, England in the ship Defence, in company with Rev. Thomas Shepard. William Lamson born in England, cam in 1634, was a man of property, a church member in good standing, and took part in town affairs. He was married to Sarah Ayers and he died Jan1 1658/9 at Ipswich, Mass. Included is an inventory of his estate. He left four sons and four daughters. The eldest was fifteen years, the youngest was 24 weeks old.
