  • 1200

By George David R. Hubbard

This short publication presents the ancestors and descendants of Daniel Lothrop, Sr., from the years 1545-1901. Rev. John Lothropp (1584), the twelfth of twenty-two children of Thomas Lowthroppe, (by three wives), was the pioneer of the Lothrop and Lathrop families in America. He was educated in Queen's College, Cambridge in 1601-1609. He became a minister of the English Church. In 1623 his judgement could no longer approve the ritual and government of the church. He was called to the First Independent Church in London, which met in secret, being illegal. After being found out he and several others were jailed for years. Finally being released after his wife's death, he and his family with others reached America in 1634. From John (1545) to Daniel Lothrop (1768) are records of the descendants.
