LOUGHRY: Brief genealogy of the Loughry family of PA 1923

  • 1600

By Julia A. Jewett

This book provides a brief history and genealogy of the Loughry family of Pennsylvania. The name has various spellings, as was the case with many of the early pioneers, one of those being 'Lochry'. They came from Ireland and Scotland to America. The line we see in this publication focuses on Jeremiah Lockery, who was born in Ireland and came to America before 1740. He had a wife and children, as listed. He served in the America's wars and is on the list of officers of the Penna Regiment commanded by the Honorable John Penn, Esq. He was buried in 1749 in the cemetery located near the Big and Little Marsh Creeks in Highland Township or Sander's burying ground.
