By E. J. Marsh

This 1887 publication presents the genealogy of the Marsh Family. George Marsh emigrated from Hingham, Norfolk Co, England to America 1635 with his wife Elizabeth and their four children. They settled in Hingham, Massachusetts. This was about fourteen miles south east of Boston, and named for the town in which they came from. They were accompanied by twenty other families. He and five others by the name of Marsh came just two years after John Marsh, who was the first of the name to come. John is on record as receiving 20 acres of land at Salem. This book also gives a brief account of the other Marsh's that arrived early. George Marsh died July 2, 1637, leaving a wife and four children. A year later his widow was married to Richard Brown of Weymouth.
