George McAleer

 This 1909 publication chronicles the origin of the McAleer surname and a line of the McAleer Genealogy. It provides the significance of this particular surname, as they first came into general use about the 11th century. It delves into the use of surnames as it spread out from locations, their traditions, tribes, and definitions. Lawrence McAleer, son of Hugh McAleer and his wife, Catharine Keenan of County Tyrone, Ireland, was born in 1781. He married (1) Catharine Gormley in 1798 and (2) Mary McCullough in 1808. Lawrence came to Québec in 1831. Descendants lived in Québec, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and elsewhere.
