Mitchell Family Magazine, Genealogical, Historical and Biographical information on this early colonial family. Jonathan Mitchell, a minister of Cambridge, Massachusetts came to America in 1635 with his parents. He graduated at Harvard College in 1647. While there he kept a diary in Latin. His wife was Margaret, daughter of Mr Shepherd, his predecessor. His children were John, Nathaniel, Samuel, and Jonathan. His memory was very retentive, his vogorous powers of mind were diligently cultivated, he wrote his sermons with care and preached without notes, speaking with great majesty, and energy. He died in July, 1668 at aged 42.
