The first of the family with records is Hugh Hide or Hew Hydys, the grandfather of Barnard Hide of which this book is the focus. He is mentioned in a Lay Subsidy Roll 16th Henry VIII ,1524 under Thurgarton. He was born 1470 and died 1530 and married to Johan. He was taxed 18d on goods, and his will is seen in records. Barnard Hide, his grandson, and his descendants are listed.
