HOPKINS: Some Colonial Ancestors of Johns Hopkins (Softcover) 1900

  • 1600

by Miles White Jr.

This book explores the colonial ancestors of Johns Hopkins to 1900. Early land settlements, why Puritans left their Virginia land to settle in Catholic Maryland, may seem strange, but at the time Virginia was a royal colony and controlled by the dynasty in power. Lord Baltimore was a courtier and man of business and cared little for religious beliefs of the colonists. The Puritans and Quakers had influence upon the people around them. Johns and Mary (Richardson) Hopkins had only one child, a son named Johns. Johns Sr lived to 1783.  (Softcover)
