MATTESON: Mattesons in America: Beriah Matteson Branch

This publication provides the Matteson family genealogies, with the history of the descendants of Henry Matteson (1646-1690), who emigrated to America in 1666/7. He was settled in Rhode Island. He married Hannah Parsons and they had seven children between 1670 and 1685. Henry died in 1690 and Hannah was remarried (to Charles Hazelton). The name has various spellings that include Mattison, Madison, Mattason, Matterson, Matson, and more. These are the descendants of Beriah Matteson; Beriah Matteson, born in Connecticut, was living in Shaftsbury, Vermont, when his eldest son, Roswell, was born in 1797. The family migrated to Oneida County, New York, about 1802. He and his wife had eight children. They moved to Port Huron, Michigan, in 1830.
