  • 2400

By Charles H. Banes

This 1895 publication presents the Miles family genealogy as it documents the Welsh roots of the Miles family in Chester and Bucks County, PA. It details the true-crime story of a forged will, regarding Griffith Miles IV, detailing the legal battle over a fraudulent will.

Griffith Miles (ca.1670-1719), a Quaker, and two brothers, Richard and Samnuel, immigrated in 1681/1682 from Wales to Chester County, Pennsylvania. Griffith married Bridget Edwards in 1692, and in 1697 they became Baptists. Griffith Miles IV (1800-1894) lived and died in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and his heirs were confronted with a forged will which was decided by a jury.

Includes Banes, Beans, Edwards, Nesmith, Search and related families.
