Clarence Vernon Roberts

A short booklet, Extracted from Early Friends Families of Upper Bucks, a collection of genealogical and historical information pertaining to the first settlers of the upper part of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Separate chapters are assigned to each family. Provided is an account of the life and the lineage of Robert Miller, pioneer and ancestor of the family, who came to Pennsylvania with his sister Sarah, about 1760 from Ireland. After serving a short time to pay their passage. Robert moved to Richland, where he bought 88 acres. His wife died and he sold the farm and moved to Virginia. He died before closing out his affairs in Bucks County. His son James Miller lived in Chester County. He was married to Mary Shaw, who had been a member of the Society of Friends, then disowned by the Richland Monthly Meeting for her marriage to a nonmember. Several of the family later united with the Society of Friends. He held several hundred acres of land in the Richland, Penna. area.
